 The Lord Jesus is King and Head of His Church, and this most interesting book is about some of His daughters. How different was the coalheaver Peggy Greenhall ("a queer sort of owd body") to the refined Cecilia Stone who lived in a mansion and confirmed the adage that "truth is stranger than fiction"! Contrast the surly Alice Shettlewood who had a problem with her temper to the genial Sarah Hatton who for 86 years had been spiritually blind. Though so different, they were all in due time called by God's grace and bore the hallmark that set them apart as the King's daughters.
